Software Description
Aqua Data Studio is a complete Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for database query, administration and development. It supports all major database vendors, works on multiple operating systems and is localized for 21 languages. Aqua Data Studio includes Aqua Open APIs which offer developers access to all of Aqua Data Studio's capabilities. The Aqua Open API library is accessible via AquaScript—a JavaScript-based programming language with a full-fledged JavaScript editor and debugger.
Who Uses Aqua Data Studio? Aqua Data Studio is used for working with databases by over 300,000 IT professionals in over 90 countries, across Fortune 1000, public enterprise, science and technology sectors.
Key features:
- Database IDE
- Query & Analysis Tool
- Browse database objects and visually edit them with a few simple clicks. Create, Alter and Delete without having to write a line of code.
- SQL Debuggers
- Register and connect to as many SSH servers as you need and run commands in a tabbed window GUI.
- Compare Tools
- The Aqua Data Studio ER Diagram modeler and generator is used in designing, editing and reverse engineering database schemas. Tables, views, relationships and constraints are converted to shapes, lines, nodes and vectors so that complex abstract database objects and processes can be viewed in a coherent ER diagram.
- The Visual Query Builder lets you select database tables directly from the GUI, and then specify columns to retrieve, joins, sorting options, filtering criteria and other query parameters in a grid format. Along with selecting tables and adding query parameters, the Visual Query Builder will generate a complete SQL statement that can be viewed, copied and executed from the Visual Query Builder dialog window.
- Version Control
- Aqua Data Studio provides a Table Data Editor that allows you to edit the result-set of an executed query on a table using a convenient graphical interface. This makes it easy to alter data and add or delete rows using an editable, Excel-like grid.
- The Import and Export tools allows data of different formats to be imported and exported to and from databases, tables, objects and files.
- Scripting & Open APIs
- Database Administration Tools
Aqua Data Studio provides a unified GUI frontend for controlling and managing a several database environments from just a single application. Users can quickly display, sort and filter system information for Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase ASE, MySQL and DB2 for LUW. Aqua Data Studio further provides tools specific to each database vendor, making it versatile and powerful enough to use within any environment.
Aqua Data Studio Query Analyzer vastly expands the command line capabilities of each database vendor with the addition of several tools for automated query entry, execution and debugging. When queries are executed in the Query Analyzer, the results can be displayed in several ways: as text, text history, grid, pivot grid and execution plans. The Query Analyzer displays statistics on a query run and its script details. The contents of the Query Analyzer can be saved in multiple formats and encodings, allowing you to reuse scripts within Aqua Data Studio, or share them with a team. Every command executed within the Query Analyzer is automatically stored in the SQL History. Leveraging Aqua Data Studio's integration with source control clients for CVS and Subversion (SVN), the Query Analyzer automatically displays differences between the currently edited document and its corresponding document in the source control repository. The differences are shown in the Inline Difference Sidebar of the text editor as new text is typed.
Aqua Data Studio's integrated SQL Debugger allows users to debug stored procedures, functions and packages to assist in troubleshooting complex queries, statements and procedural code. The debugger works with many popular database vendors and versions, and allows for single-stepping, pausing and setting breakpoints within the procedure code. This makes it easy to evaluate variables, temp tables and conditional flow of the code.
Aqua Data Studio provides Compare Tools, making it easy to compare database schemas, schema objects, queries, query results, files, directories, clipboard contents and version control histories. The results of all comparisons can be saved as HTML files for storage and sharing.
Aqua Data Studio offers Aqua Open APIs for programmatic access to all aspects of Aqua Data Studio functionality. Aqua Open APIs are invoked via AquaScript—a JavaScript written inside of Aqua Data Studio. AquaScripts have full access to the Java APIs and any proprietary Java libraries that you include in the Aqua Data Studio classpath. For a seamless development experience, Aqua Data Studio also provides an embedded Integrated Development Environment (IDE), enabling developers to write, execute and debug AquaScripts inside of Aqua Data Studio. The Aqua Data Studio scripting IDE also provides tools for executing and debugging scripts in a browser and deploying the scripts to Aqua Data Server.
The Aqua Data Studio Entity Relationship Modeler (ER Modeler) helps in designing, editing and reverse engineering database schemas. Tables, views, relationships and constraints are converted to shapes, lines, nodes and vectors so that complex abstract database objects and processes can be viewed in a coherent diagram.
Aqua Data Studio SQL History provides a history of all SQL statements and scripts that have been executed within the Query Analyzer, Query Builder, Table Data Editor and SQL Debugger. Double-clicking on an SQL History item writes it into the current window for instant re-execution or editing. As the number of queries begins to exceed the SQL History buffer, Aqua Data Studio will automatically archive SQL statements for later retrieval.
Aqua Data Studio's Visual Query Builder provides a way of constructing database queries without typing SQL statements. Visual Query Builder lets you select database tables directly from the GUI, and then specify columns to retrieve, joins, sorting options, filtering criteria and other query parameters in a grid format. Along with selecting tables and adding query parameters, the Visual Query Builder will generate a complete SQL statement that can be viewed, copied and executed from the Visual Query Builder dialog window.
Aqua Data Studio offers a complete client for Git, Perforce, Subversion (SVN) and Concurrent Version System (CVS) with a set of visual tools for repository browsing, file editing and repository operations.
Aqua Data Studio provides a Table Data Editor that allows you to edit the result-set of an executed query on a table using a convenient graphical interface. This makes it easy to alter data and add or delete rows using an editable, Excel-like grid.
Aqua Data Studio offers rich charting functionality, similar to Excel and other specialized reporting and charting tools. Aqua Data Studio can plot charts directly from the datasets returned by database queries and Pivot Grids, eliminating the need to perform complex data export/import operations. Using the power of AquaScripts, you can also generate and share charts programmatically. Charts may be saved as either PNG or JPG graphic files, and e-mailed directly from Aqua Data Studio. In combination with Aqua Data Server, the Chart tool provides additional features. It allows you to offer your users secure, browser-based access to charts using real-time or historical data, and even restrict the set of charts that individual users are authorized to view. Using the Function Series feature, datasets retrieved from a database can be processed with mathematical and statistical functions, and then visualized upon processing.
